Legal Representation for Youth
Children’s Law Center of Minnesota staff and volunteer attorneys are court-appointed by Ramsey County to all children who are aged 10+ who enter child protection in Ramsey County, unless there is a conflict of interest.
Effective February 1, 2025, this includes youth who are placed out of the home as well as youth remaining in-home on a Children in Need of Protection or Services (CHIPS) petition.
Exceptions: CLC representation may shift if there is a conflict of interest.
Volunteer attorneys and staff at CLC serve as the child’s voice in court and in planning processes. https://clcmn.org/what-we-do/legal-representation/
