Mental Health 101
Mental HEALTH is a good thing! Mental health is "a state of wellbeing in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community" (WHO, 2014).
But, 1 in 5 youth has a mental health disorder severe enough to negatively impact his/her daily life at home, school, or in the community. Untreated mental health disorders impair thinking, feeling and/or behavior. They interfere with a child’s capacity to experience well-being, enjoy fulfilling relationships, adapt to change, and cope with adversity.
The good news is that childhood mental health disorders can be treated and managed. So, it's important to get support as soon as possible!
